TWCO, a non-profitable welfare organization was formed on January, 1986 with an objective of bringing together the families of telecom fraternity(DOT,MTNL,BSNL & TCIL). The organization since its inception has been rendering immense services to thousands of women employees and their families and our endeavours have contributed significantly in women empowerment.

TWCO has been organizing activities like training programme for women, free health check-up camps, beauty care center, tuition classes and other social activities for the welfare of women employees and their family.

TWCO, with headquarters at HM8, Harishchandr Mathur Lane, Connaught Place, New Delhi-1 has the following aims and objectives for the benefit of family members of the telecom employees:

 

a)

To promote, encourage and coordinate the work for the economic uplift, mutual assistance, self-reliance and general well being of the Telecom. Families specially women and children.

b)

To foster a spirit of friendship, unity and social under standing among members, with a view to encounter talent among the Telecom employees and their families.

c)

To promote artistic, cultural, economic and social activities among members, with a view to encounter talent among Telecom employees and their families.

d)

To provide assistance in deserving cases to the families of the Telecom. Employees in matters of adult literacy education, family welfare, medical care, prevention of diseases and various social obligations.

e)

To strive for improvement of working conditions and office environments for women employees of the Department.

f)

To provide and to assist the Department to provide for rest and recreational facilities both in offices and residential colonies.

g)

To organize institutional support to working women and their children by setting up of crèches, tailoring central hostels community centers schools, children’s clubs, balwadis and other institutions.

h)

To disseminate information regarding social property and legal rights of women and to arrange counseling services.

i)

To render assistance towards national causes and to provide relief in the event of national calamities, independently or in conjunction with other non-Telecom Social Welfare Organizations.

j)

To promote and supplement the aims and objectives of the Telecom Staff Welfare Board and Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.

k)

To sponsor and undertake any other activity which, in the opinion of the Management Committee of the TWCO will be in furtherance of the overall aims and objectives of the Society
